here's where i've left it tonight.  working about 1 hr a day since the initial 8 hr start...textures are coming along well, finally. it oscillates between good and bad, but gradually inching closer to finished.

So this time...

I started witha  slightly better reference (more committed anyway)

and it came muuuuch faster at the start

although its is a struggle to finish, like they all are.  

and this is how I destroyed it when I got back
